Rob’s Megaphone

Where laughter, fun, and writing intersect

About

Hi! I’m a dad, a professor of mass communications, and a writer.

My goal here at Robs Megaphone is twofold:

1. to post about writing - specifically trying to make learning about grammar and writing fun, and

2. to post funny, interesting stuff.

When planning for Robs Megaphone, I had hoped that visitors who stopped by for the “funny, interesting stuff” would meander through my Rob’s library and stumbleupon - I mean discover and enjoy my musings on writing. For those who visited Rob’s Megaphone for my writing posts, I wanted to have something fun to laugh and think about.

I hope you enjoy Rob’s Megaphone. I look forward to your continued comments, and I will do my best to inform and entertain with - as the great Arsenio Hall put it - things that make you go hmmmmmm.

The pictures found in Rob’s Megaphone come from many different sources. Whenever possible I include the original source for the pictures. Many times, however, the pictures are posted in mutliple sources, and it is impossible to determine who first submitted the picture. If you have any information as to the original source of any picture included in Rob’s Megaphone, please notify me, and I will be happy to add  the proper attribution.

I love running into websites and blogs that deal with the subject of writing - and all the things associated with it. It is one of those art forms that I see fastly fading - at least in a non-electronic format. So thank you for dedicating your time to the subject of writing, it is appreciated!!

    Great site. Wow

Are you familiar with the concept of copyrighted material? Geeeesh. Most of your blog is pictures you grabbed off another site. Unreal.

  5. robertstevenson Says:

Hi, Carrie. Thank you for visiting. And yes, I do know about copyrighted material :) I look long and hard to find material to make my viewers laugh. As you pointed out many of my pics have been run before, but I don’t violate their copyright. Many are submitted to me. Many are recycled on various sites, and it’s impossible to find the original. When I can find the original I include it. Did you notice funnysigns.com on the last few posts? Even then, funnsigns.com isn’t the orignal host, but it’s as close as I could come. The beauty of the blogoshere is that we share, so more people can enjoy. Many posts on my site have been recycled by by others, and when they do this, I thank them.

    I like your blog.

Just curious: “Robs Megaphone” takes grammar seriously, but it doesn’t feel the need to call itself “Rob’s Megaphone.” What gives?

Good Question. I used to have an apostrophe in my header, but it caused trouble with some search engines. I really don’t recall the difficulty now. I might try it again to see if I run into any more issues. Cheers.

    Hello Robert,
I found you at Blogcatalog. You have a very interesting blog. But um………you are not new to blogging anymore (stealthily looks at the stats). :D

I read about your Reddit tips at BC. Thanks much for those.

    Keep it up!

Hey, Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate the kind words about my blog. I still consider two and a half months new to blogging. Don’t you?

    Hello from Madagascar,

Interesting blog, esp. for a newbie blogger like me (1 addictive month and a half already, though). Loved the one you wrote about how to bring back readers. Now, I’m considering reviewing one article, adding links that point to multiple related sites as, it seems, I’ve started a pillar post (I know this from the “Top searches” stats in my dashboard). I’m going to polish it and add more depth to render it more informative.

Why did you use executive master chef Rino Baglio? May I ask what if anything is behind that?

  13. robertstevenson Says:

    Hi, R. Sanders.
I’m only aware of a handful of chefs. He came to my mind first.

    Rob,

Thank the good Lord above that my memory was better than yours that day at Wet N Wild. Do you know that I waited in line for the Black Hole slide with my girls for about 30 minutes. Two riders at time could go down so I figured get two heavy rafts climb to the top, let them go and than I would go alone. I must have missed the sign all the way at the bottom that said “NO Single Riders” I had too let them go down and than I walked all the way down that winding stair case. I had to laugh when I got to the bottom and my wife and my girls were looking for me at the end of the slide with this were the heck did he go? look. If I wanted to complain I would say “that Wet N Wild is a tourist trap” but I had an awsome time with my family in Orlando and I got to meet you. We just got home and I was checking my e-mail and thought I would check-out your site as well. If you get time, drop me a line. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your time with the boys.
